Care Instructions:  Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.  Line dry, reshape whilst damp.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill! If you're new to all this (or just new to Cheeky Mama's) then read our top tips on how to use Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads, plus how to care for your Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads - it couldn't be easier!

CSP convert!
Friday, 15 December 2017  |

Having used cheeky wipes and cloth nappies on my daughter for the last 12 months, it was an obvious step to look into CSP when my period finally returned. I found disposable pads made me feel quite sore and uncomfortable, due to my episiotomy scar. So after lots of research, I decided to take the plunge and order a full CSP kit, plus 5 extra night time pads (so I'd feel secure on my heavier days). For the first time ever, I was looking forward to my period coming, so I could try them out! I was expecting them to feel very different to wearing a disposable pad, but actually they felt quite similar, but without the itch and smell. I was surprised to find I didn't feel desperate for a shower each morning, like I normally would during my period. There was one moment at work, I became a bit worried the pad was showing through my trousers, as it's a bit bulkier than an equivalent disposable, but after a quick check in the mirror, all was well! Like other reviews warned me, there was a bit of movement with the pad, but with a bit of experimenting with underwear, turning pads around and wearing tights/leggings, it wasn't a big issue, and I had hardly any leakage on my underwear and none on my clothes, which I'm not used to! There was one day where I was walking around town, and found the longer night pads, gave me more security, regarding movement, as they're longer. I chose the bamboo top, as I thought I'd prefer that to fleece against my skin, although I was a bit concerned it might feel damp against me - I didn't ever feel wet, although during my heaviest days, I was sometimes aware it needed changing, which is no different to my experience of disposables. I found the soaking system in the mucky box very easy and not disgusting at all. My husband didn't question the appearance of the pink mucky box, alongside our green one, and it feels discrete enough to leave out even when we had visitors. I had a slightly lighter period than usual (not sure if this was a result of using cloth?), and found with 7 night pads, 6 day pads and 2 liners, I needed to wash after the first 2 days, when I'm heaviest. I think I'd find 4 or 5 more pads useful, as it was a struggle to get them to dry quick enough, even with the dehumidifier on. I was surprised not to have to do another wash, but found the pads can definitely be worn longer than disposable ones. I'm definitely a cloth convert, and can't see I'll ever be returning to disposables. Thank you for a brilliant product!

Lots of positives
Monday, 11 December 2017  |

I have been using cloth pads for about a year, purchased from a different company. I bought a full kit from Cheeky Wipes for several reasons: 1. I didn't have enough pads to get me through a whole period without multiple washes/panic drying 2. No mucky box equivalent was provided which made storage prior to washing a bit tricky.
Initial thoughts on the kit on delivery 1. The mucky box is brilliant - well sealed when closed and inoffensive to look at, very easy fixing and removal of the mesh bag. 2. Pads very soft and not too synthetic (I got the bamboo terry ones) 3. Pads have a double popper fastening for size adjustment.
I have now used the kit for a full period and my thoughts based on this usage are: 1. Pads are made of lovely material which is comfy 2. Mucky box is as brilliant as I hoped, and the oil does a great job deodorising - probably makes the bathroom smell better than usual! 3. I found I needed to change the solution a lot which was a bit of a gross job... Maybe I'm just squeamish but seeing a box full of blood every time I changed pad was slightly unpleasant 4. In comparison to my other brand of pads I found the Cheeky Wipes pads to be very mobile (they basically travelled backwards constantly) which led to a few awkward situations in the first few days, until I discovered that I needed to wear my tightest knickers for them to stay in place! This point is not ideal, I don't really enjoy wearing tight pants but it's quite hard to enjoy yourself on a period anyway so maybe it's no big problem. My other non-CW pads have never caused this issue no matter what pants I wore (they are more of a classic shape like a disposable pad instead of a diamond shape). However, the CW pads are a much nicer material, natural-feeling, cool and comfortable. 5. No leaks at all when I wore the right sort of knickers 6. I also added some wipes to the kit, they are bloody brilliant (excuse the pun) and so refreshing! 7. Everything has come out of the washing machine spotless, which is great - that's on a 40° cycle 8. These pads are ever-so-slightly bulkier than the other brand, but there really isn't much in it.
That's all - overall a positive experience, and although it probably goes without saying, much much more comfortable than anything disposable. Also makes you feel like an angel for not adding to the mountains of unnecessary rubbish in the world!

Extremely comfortable you forget you're wearing them
Tuesday, 7 November 2017  |

This pack pretty much covers all your 'feminine needs' for every day of the month. I love how soft and comfortable the pads are, so much so that unlike disposable sanitary towels, it's easy to forget you're wearing them. Will definitely recommend.

Very Happy 1st Time
Friday, 3 November 2017  |

I'd like to pretend it's all about being environmental, which is a big bonus but the reason I ordered this product is because I have a very sensitive PH balance and I suffer with recurrent Thrush and BV. I have used tampons for years and read I should stop using Tampons, so I was looking for an alternative. to regular disposable pads which are uncomfortable and rub, not really breathable or perfumed which was no good for me. A friend recommended cheeky sanitary pads and I've used them recently for the first time and I'm very happy! Firstly, they're soooo comfortable. I had no leaks. I have found I need to wear my more secure pants as they're a bit heavy/bulky for the invisible seam french knickers i usually wear and the pad can move but that's more to do with my choice of pants! I found washing them separately on 30c wash, not in the mesh bag was most effective - the first wash I did in the mesh bag with other washing didn't really do much in removing the stains.

My only negative is obviously they do have a bit of light staining after washing - I might try the bamboo charcoal (black lined ones) for that reason next but my friend tells me the white ones absorb better. Overall very happy and best news is I haven't had my usual thrush/BV outbreak after the end of my period!

Happy with purchase
Saturday, 28 October 2017  |

I was unsure about the idea of reusable pads at first, but I have to admit it's not gross like I thought it would be!
The kit is a good starting point but there aren't enough panty liners for use between periods in the pack so I will be ordering more.
I also notice that the pads slide back depending on what knickers I am wearing, For me they are only staying in place with full briefs that are quite snug fitting.
But overall I am happy with my purchase as it is a great way of cutting down on unnecessary waste.

A little trial and error but got there in the end
Tuesday, 5 September 2017  |

I have been delighted with the quality and feel of these pads. I had read previous reviews about ensuring you have the right fitting underwear and picked up on the tip about getting the minky backing to sit the right way round to prevent slipping. I found cotton underwear worked better than the more silky fabrics and I personally don't see it being too much of a hardship to wear cotton underwear a few days of the month to ensure success. The mucky box is an excellent design and is easy to fill and use. The pads have washed really well and the fabric is dry almost as soon as it comes out of the washing machine, so I was able to manage an entire period with just the one starter kit (washing the set a couple of times during the week). I do plan to buy a few more of the night/heavy flow pads as I felt that two probably weren't quite sufficient, but I bought the starter pack to find out what worked best before I bought more anyway so I am happy to do this. My only criticism is that I think there ought to be more information included with the product. It would be useful to have the types of pads labelled or separated as I had to sit and try and figure out what was what when it arrived. I also think that information about best underwear and the direction to sit the pads so they don't slip should be included too, as well as clear washing advice. This would avoid having to read through reviews and revisit the product website to work it all out for myself. Overall- an excellent product and one that I shall be using for many years to come!

Very happy with the quality of the products
Wednesday, 9 August 2017  |

I'm so happy I found cheekywipes. I am in the process of changing from disposable pads due to the fact they make my eczema flair up. I ordered the kit that came with a variety of pads, with the added extra and 10 wipes, the essential oil and mucky box. The one downside is that this kit doesn't include a box for the clean wipes.
Can't wait to start using my products and I'm loving the patterns and the quality. So happy with my order. Definitely won't go back to using disposable pads (except for if I'm on holiday)
Thank you so much cheeky wipes will be ordering some more bits soon

Amazing! So pleased I tried!
Saturday, 16 December 2017  |  Kimberley

I love these wipes!!! I was getting grumpy with the fact that disposable wipes came out three at a time, they smelled of chemicals and when you get to the bottom half of the packet you have to fight to get a wipe out and then they all come out together. What a massive waste of money the disposables are!

We use reusable nappies and when I was going to buy reuseable wipes when I was pregnant my friends accused me of going a step too far and boarding the hippy train! Well I ended up having two nappy bins; one for my disposable wipes and one for my reusable nappies. Utter nonsense! So however ‘on board the train’ I was getting I decided to give the wipes a go. Totally amazing! Easy peasy! They smell divine, I did buy the full kit as I like the idea of presoaking the dirty wipes rather than them sitting in the nappy bin and I chuck them in the wash with my nappies. Amazing! Brilliant! Fast service! I’m a complete convert and will never look back, not to mention the fact that you get to help save the planet too!! I intend to buy more when I’m weaning!
Thank you cheeky wipes!!!!

Massive. Baby soft. Smell beautiful!
Monday, 6 November 2017  |  Emma

Bought these as just switched to cloth nappies and disposable wipes were actually more fuss. I’d had a selection of wipes to borrow from our local nappy library and they did the job, but I was so excited when these arrived!

They are HUGE! I am sure one alone will easily cope with a significant poo job or some serious pasta sauce decoration, leaving plenty for freshening up & the rest of the time. I have no concerns about getting mucky fingers.

They are also super soft (we have bamboo velour) and smell beautiful with the oils (so much so I think I can use a little less and make it last longer). We also received some free minkee/bamboo ones with cute little designs on them. They’re even softer (I can’t stop stroking them!) so we decided to keep them dry and use for face freshens with a little tap water and ‘drying off’ when bottom air time is not easy (e.g. when we’re out and about). However the soaking box has enough room for the extras if we did want them wet!

We had a couple of small hiccups with ordering - a missing email and some free wipes left off- but the customer service team were absolutely fantastic and got things sorted super fast. I always feel the mark of a good company is not being faultless but in being experts at fixing issues, and the team were fantastic.

Thank you for a lovely product. Highly recommended!

I'm a convert
Monday, 16 October 2017  |  Helen

I'll admit to being sceptical about cloth pads, but after years of irritation and painful rashes caused by disposables I decided to give them a go. I went for the full kit as it gave me a mixture of pads, some cotton, some minky and with different lengths and so far I'm very impressed. No leaks at all and they're so comfortable. I don't even know I have them on! The free wipes that came with the pads are lovely and soft and the mucky box is great for discretely soaking used pads. I would definitely recommend and will be buying again.

Fabulous make up removal pads
Wednesday, 4 October 2017  |  Maya

I absolutely love these colourful make up removal pads. I chose the gorgeous rainbow pattern ones. I have been using them for a couple of weeks and really impressed with how well they remove my makeup. I'm trying to slowly start using reusable items for myself and family so thought this would be a good place to start. I would normally use at least 10 cotton wool pads in a day for my daily routine, whereas now one cheeky wipes removal pads will do! I love the two textures to the pads, the patterned side it so soft and great for the eye area, takes mascara off no problem and the other side is good for giving your face a good scrub! I'm converted! x

Toilet Paper Alternative Family Cloth Wipes Kit
Thursday, 21 September 2017  |  Ella

I was extremely suspicious that this would be gross, but after eharing about it on radio 2, my husband wouldn't stop talking about it, and since we're planning to use reusable nappies for our hopefully-arriving-soon baby I thought we'd give it a go. We love them, they feels great and make the bathroom smell good, Would recommend to give it a go, especially after seeing that article in the BBC news about the 250 fat berg of toilet paper they found under London!

Glad I made the move
Friday, 1 September 2017  |  Lauri

I was definitely one of those ewww! people. But having started using the sani pads recently (and wished I had found them years ago) and then hearing you on Radio 2 I thought I'd give the toilet set a go. It took a while for me to unpack the parcel and start to use it (still at the squeamish stage) but everything is so well thought out, even the way the mesh bag fits into the mucky box and the smells from the added scented oils are great and so refreshing. So now I can say I have used it for a number 2 as well as number 1 and am delighted with how easy it is and how fresh I feel. There's nothing more annoying than paper that tears when you're wiping, and this eliminates all that. I am new to this and haven't washed them yet but it all seems to be going very smoothly. I have now ordered some of the rainbow cloths to replace my cleaning cloths and kitchen paper. Final step is to convince the rest of the family! So glad I found this product!

So pleased with these !
Thursday, 3 August 2017  |  Rebecca

I am so impressed with the quality of these wipes. Trying to talk my husband round to using reusable wipes (already use reusable nappies) was a bit tricky but once they arrived and I showed him how they work he thinks they're fantastic ! I bought the full kit and additional wipes to keep in the bathroom as facial wipes. I keep a wet bag in my handbag for out and about, a box in the kids room and facial wipes in the bathroom. I didn't realise how well 25 wipes would do (I bought a total of 65) so I've been able to keep some aside for when our third baby arrives. 25 wipes is all I have had to use for my two messy Boys, I wash them every other day to freshen them up but even then I don't always go through the whole 25 as even for the stinkiest bums I only need one !! I've had some real messy ones and no 'pong' from them after washing and the mucky box stops them from stinking out the house perfectly, in fact the mucky box doesn't even smell when I open it that's to the essential oils. I've been raving about these to everyone even for facial wipes for those without children. Once baby #3 is born I also plan to try the reusable feminine products. Using these is so easy (and cheap!). I was spending a fortune on water wipes. Very long review I know but these really are fantastic !

No more toilet roll!
Thursday, 13 July 2017  |  Ruth

Well initially I was a little grossed out by the idea of this but had recently bought some cloth sanitary pads (sorry, not CW) elsewhere as I was fed up of buying so many TENA let alone filling the bin and landfill with them, I was so pleasantly surprised at how nice they were and my friend had been raving about how great CW were for her kids that I decided I would take the adult version plunge! Toilet Paper Alternative. I've had to pack them away for a few weeks while my bathroom is being renovated (I didn't want my lovely wipes and boxes to be covered in dust, muck and dirt!) and I miss them so much!!! I can honestly say once the bath room is finished there will be no going back! You feel so fresh! You only need one wipe per visit whether you're doing a "number 2" or just a pee. Not having to buy loads of toilet paper and flushing so much down the toilet is just a bonus!! Like some others have commented the mucky box is a bit small for using as a toilet paper alternative but I love the system and that the mucky box even has a scent too! I might look into the idea that others have suggested of a pedal bin with the mesh bag as the bag is much bigger than the mucky wipes box. I love all the different scents and bought them all to try. I also got some flannel wipes for hands and face and use the rose and geranium oil with a bit of the coconut oil for them. Lovely! I've got dermatitis on my hands and they just love the coconut oil!
Hurry up workmen, I want to use my cheeky wipes again!

In my search of trying to be more eco-friendly I am so glad I came across these pads! If anything I should have bought more, and I certainly will. Very comfortable, do the job and easy to wash. Perfect!
