Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads from Cheeky Wipes - for light flow

Size:        22cm x 7cm suitable for light days of your period or mild incontinence

Bamboo / Minky:  Leakproof Minkee outer, one layer microfibre, inner layer bamboo charcoal microfleece or bamboo terry

Not sure which pad to choose? See our blog post for more details....

Care Instructions:  Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.  Line dry, reshape whilst damp.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill!

Why not add some of our reusable intimate wipes to your order and / or a wetbag for carrying clean and dirty pads / wipes? You can also buy the pads in packs of 5 or 10 , alternatively take a look at our Cheeky Mama Sanitary Pad kits and SAVE money!

Slip and slide
Sunday, 16 July 2017  |

These liners are great if you're staying around the house and don't need to do much walking. I have found that once I start walking any distance, like to the school or shops, the pad slides as far up my back as possible.
This makes them ineffective in the region they're needed and it's too awkward adjusting on the go. Am I missing a trick?

Response:

Hi Camilla, just a couple of ideas for you to stop the slipping - the underside fabric (the minky side) can be brushed in 2 different directions. If you are finding the pad slipping a little, try turning it 180 degrees so what was at the front is now at the back - this sounds odd but if the fabric is going in the other direction it grips better on your underwear and stays put! We also recommend wearing a tighter pant with a high percentage of lycra in, this also helps keep them in place.

Love them!

I love these and wish I had discovered them ages ago. So eco friendly! Once you get over the 'ew' factor, they are great, comfortable and easy to wear.

Really comfortable and absorbant. Find that they do move around, but maybe I just need some better fitting pants.

so soft and comfy to wear
Friday, 30 June 2017  |

I already had some of the day pads for myself and loved them. Now my daughter has just started her periods, the charcoal=topped panty liners are the perfect size for her overnight, so I bought a few. "Oooh these are soft!" was the reaction from her. I do like the two poppers so you can adjust the fit around your knickers.

I have sensitive skin and these are far superior to disposable plastic liners to catch "those ooops moments"

Good but.....
Friday, 9 June 2017  |

I had been using disposable panty liners with my mooncup just as a belt and braces which had started to irritate me something rotten! I saw these wonderful items on a suggested page link through facebook wow what a revelation! Wore them and no problems to start with however I cycle to work and let's just say the popper plus a bike saddle equals pain! I will keep wearing them as they are good but will have to seek an alternative for biking days. If you could come up with a cyclists alternative I would buy, buy, buy!

thanks Katie, we're glad the pads are working for you. We love a bit of cycling here at Cheeky Wipes HQ so are looking at alternatives so Watch this space over the coming months as the team here are currently testing period pants - exactly what they say they are!

I love these softies
Monday, 5 June 2017  |

I am 56 post menopause but decided to buy liners as { pardon my bluntness] even showering everyday I can get quite sweaty and a bit smelly[ I am sure I am not the only one] so I thought I would try the liners. I love them. So much fresher and softer than standard liners which made me sore.
I used washable nappies for my dtr [now 15] and so I am all for washable sustainable products and they are easy to wash.
I have also persuaded my dtr to try them and the sanitary towels and apart from them moving a little she also likes them and although she is sqeamish seems happy about washing them out with cold water.
To be honest she was a bit averse to the whole idea of washables at first [being a teenager] but now admits they are much softer and gentler and they are not that much more work and all the blood washes out. I love them and hopefully my dtr will continue to use them and become an advocate for her generation. The only comment she made was that the patterned sanitary towels looked like nappy patterns! Maybe in the future you could have more flowery patterns. She loves the solid colours though. All in all brilliant. Thank you very much.

dissappointing

Too warm when the weather is hot. Feels too short, the day pads may be a better length. Bought this just for occasional use in between but not sure I will use much as quite chunky and not discrete.

Hi Yvette, it may be that the charcoal fleece is a little to warm in this weather - a cooler option might be the more natural bamboo top or the cotton ultrapad liners

Too big
Sunday, 14 May 2017  |

I ordered a pack of liners but they look like sanitary towels. They are very big, and despite being very soft, it's not that comfy if you're not used to sanitary towels. I'll keep them as sanitary towels but I had to order another pack to try something smaller to wear on a daily basis.
ADVICE: don't wash your items before being sure to keep them. I made the mistake of washing them first for hygiene reasons but I can't send them back now, which is why I keep them...
Delivery was fast and products are very pretty. Service is great and I do recommend the website.

Response:

Hi Marine, if you're not used to pads I can understand why you might initially find these quite different as they are bulkier than you are probably used to, however they are very absorbent.
Our cotton and organic cotton 'Ultra' liners are much thinner and probably more suited to you.

Super absorbent

Absorbent and comfy. I switched from regular disposable pads about 6 months ago to reusables and a mooncup. Some days I don't have chance to use the mooncup due to meetings etc so the pads are my go to thing. They are comfy and don't irritate me like disposables. Easily washed too!

No more toilet roll!
Thursday, 13 July 2017  |  Ruth

Well initially I was a little grossed out by the idea of this but had recently bought some cloth sanitary pads (sorry, not CW) elsewhere as I was fed up of buying so many TENA let alone filling the bin and landfill with them, I was so pleasantly surprised at how nice they were and my friend had been raving about how great CW were for her kids that I decided I would take the adult version plunge! Toilet Paper Alternative. I've had to pack them away for a few weeks while my bathroom is being renovated (I didn't want my lovely wipes and boxes to be covered in dust, muck and dirt!) and I miss them so much!!! I can honestly say once the bath room is finished there will be no going back! You feel so fresh! You only need one wipe per visit whether you're doing a "number 2" or just a pee. Not having to buy loads of toilet paper and flushing so much down the toilet is just a bonus!! Like some others have commented the mucky box is a bit small for using as a toilet paper alternative but I love the system and that the mucky box even has a scent too! I might look into the idea that others have suggested of a pedal bin with the mesh bag as the bag is much bigger than the mucky wipes box. I love all the different scents and bought them all to try. I also got some flannel wipes for hands and face and use the rose and geranium oil with a bit of the coconut oil for them. Lovely! I've got dermatitis on my hands and they just love the coconut oil!
Hurry up workmen, I want to use my cheeky wipes again!

In my search of trying to be more eco-friendly I am so glad I came across these pads! If anything I should have bought more, and I certainly will. Very comfortable, do the job and easy to wash. Perfect!

Better than expected

I was a little apprehensive about trying cloth sanitary towels. My periods are heavy and I routinely had to use night time disposables throughout my period. I bought the starter pack which only has one night time pad so I did wonder if it would be a disaster. I needn't have worried. The pads are pretty (I got mixed patterns) and super soft. They feel comfortable to wear and no slippage if you take care to check that the nap is in the right direction and knickers are well fitting. No leaking problems and the day time pad coped fine. Washing out was simple and they come up as new. I used a little bit of vanish and washed on a cold setting. They take a while to dry so the starter pack wasn't big enough to get me through my whole period but I'm so pleased with the towels that I've ordered some more. Being environmental is a bonus.

I just love these towels. They are so comfy. I have endometriosis so need to wear them everyday. Disposable towels were literally making me miserable, so uncomfortable and itchy. But these are a game changer. Also I have fibromyalgia and am very sensitive to things on my body. So I can't thank you enough. I have various sizes. I hand wash them and they come up like new. ( cold water mind!)

I thought the normal wipes were soft but these are something else! Using on newborn skin without the oils and a million times easier than cotton wool.

Perfect fabric for little hands and faces
Thursday, 4 May 2017  |  Debbie

This is a handy little kit for weaning, especially if you're following baby-led approaches or if little one is a fan of finger foods. Microfibres are the perfect all round cloth for this, pick up the dirt - no matter how sticky - yet they're soft and gentle on baby's skin. The number of wipes I'm saving from landfil is just an added bonus!

I found these to be a saviour in the weeks after having a baby. They were so much more comfortable than disposable pads and helped give me some much needed comfort. Would definitely recommend to other mums

I wish I had found out sooner !
Tuesday, 2 May 2017  |  Gillian

I'm a forty something woman now , imagine the money and bit of the planet I could have saved if I had discovered cloth sanitary pads as a teenager ?! ( ok cheekywipes weren't invented then ).not to mention the Thrush angle - I've not had thrush ( a regular monthly visitor ) since I switched to cloth towels - makes sense when you think about it your pants don't give you thrush do they ? I've gone for the charcoal ones this time just because my old ones , I've had them for years now , are looking a bit grey - well I would have chucked my old greying pants by now ! They are still perfectly functional but this time if they start off grey then I won't have to think about it .
Snug fitting pants are the answer and as my thong days are gone it's not an issue - just think you will never have that horrible sticky pad sticking in the wrong place or yanking a hair out feeling again !.( ok just me is it ?)

Absolutely love cheeky wipes, can't believe I waited so long to take the plunge into reuseable wipes. Would highly recommend. Have since purchased extra boxes to use with my newborn and 1year old so we can have a set upstairs and down!
