Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads from Cheeky Wipes - for light flow

Size:        22cm x 7cm suitable for light days of your period or mild incontinence

Bamboo / Minky:  Leakproof Minkee outer, one layer microfibre, inner layer bamboo charcoal microfleece or bamboo terry

Not sure which pad to choose? See our blog post for more details....

Care Instructions:  Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.  Line dry, reshape whilst damp.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill!

Please note that this listing is for a SINGLE pad, multipacks are available separately.

Why not add some of our reusable intimate wipes to your order and / or a wetbag for carrying clean and dirty pads / wipes? You can also buy the pads in packs of 5 or 10 , alternatively take a look at our Cheeky Mama Sanitary Pad kits and SAVE money!

Excellent product
Thursday, 24 August 2017  |

I have had moderate stress incontinence since my (very large) son was born - and this has got somewhat worse since the menopause. Now I need to wear a light pad during the day. I was dubious about your product but am pleasantly surprised. They are comfortable (apart from when riding my bike!) and cope well for the whole day. Rinsing them through is no problem each evening and they dry quickly.
Making sure the 'nap' is the correct way round is important - perhaps you could mark them in some way to make this more straightforward? Also, I wish I had bought the cream version (will probably buy a couple more in cream) so they don't show as much.
Lastly, would it be possible to have a different type of fastening (e.g. Velcro) hitch would be more comfortable when riding a bike?

Thanks Michelle and great tip about the nap, once they are in place they do stay. We are looking into other solutions for cycling/sports so watch this space!

Great absorbancy
Thursday, 27 July 2017  |

I tried doing an absorbancy test like they do on the adverts and I was staggered by how much liquid these pads can take and how fast it absorbs. The bamboo is very soft and comfortable.

I personally found the minky part a little too fluffy, like having a soft toy between your legs, but this is personal preference and i cant deny how soft the overall effect is.

Slip and slide
Sunday, 16 July 2017  |

These liners are great if you're staying around the house and don't need to do much walking. I have found that once I start walking any distance, like to the school or shops, the pad slides as far up my back as possible.
This makes them ineffective in the region they're needed and it's too awkward adjusting on the go. Am I missing a trick?

Response:

Hi Camilla, just a couple of ideas for you to stop the slipping - the underside fabric (the minky side) can be brushed in 2 different directions. If you are finding the pad slipping a little, try turning it 180 degrees so what was at the front is now at the back - this sounds odd but if the fabric is going in the other direction it grips better on your underwear and stays put! We also recommend wearing a tighter pant with a high percentage of lycra in, this also helps keep them in place.

Love them!

I love these and wish I had discovered them ages ago. So eco friendly! Once you get over the 'ew' factor, they are great, comfortable and easy to wear.

Panty liners

Really comfortable and absorbant. Find that they do move around, but maybe I just need some better fitting pants.

so soft and comfy to wear
Friday, 30 June 2017  |

I already had some of the day pads for myself and loved them. Now my daughter has just started her periods, the charcoal=topped panty liners are the perfect size for her overnight, so I bought a few. "Oooh these are soft!" was the reaction from her. I do like the two poppers so you can adjust the fit around your knickers.

Better than disposables

I have sensitive skin and these are far superior to disposable plastic liners to catch "those ooops moments"

Good but.....
Friday, 9 June 2017  |

I had been using disposable panty liners with my mooncup just as a belt and braces which had started to irritate me something rotten! I saw these wonderful items on a suggested page link through facebook wow what a revelation! Wore them and no problems to start with however I cycle to work and let's just say the popper plus a bike saddle equals pain! I will keep wearing them as they are good but will have to seek an alternative for biking days. If you could come up with a cyclists alternative I would buy, buy, buy!

I love these softies
Monday, 5 June 2017  |

I am 56 post menopause but decided to buy liners as { pardon my bluntness] even showering everyday I can get quite sweaty and a bit smelly[ I am sure I am not the only one] so I thought I would try the liners. I love them. So much fresher and softer than standard liners which made me sore.
I used washable nappies for my dtr [now 15] and so I am all for washable sustainable products and they are easy to wash.
I have also persuaded my dtr to try them and the sanitary towels and apart from them moving a little she also likes them and although she is sqeamish seems happy about washing them out with cold water.
To be honest she was a bit averse to the whole idea of washables at first [being a teenager] but now admits they are much softer and gentler and they are not that much more work and all the blood washes out. I love them and hopefully my dtr will continue to use them and become an advocate for her generation. The only comment she made was that the patterned sanitary towels looked like nappy patterns! Maybe in the future you could have more flowery patterns. She loves the solid colours though. All in all brilliant. Thank you very much.

dissappointing
Thursday, 1 June 2017  |

Too warm when the weather is hot. Feels too short, the day pads may be a better length. Bought this just for occasional use in between but not sure I will use much as quite chunky and not discrete.

Hi Yvette, it may be that the charcoal fleece is a little to warm in this weather - a cooler option might be the more natural bamboo top or the cotton ultrapad liners

Massive. Baby soft. Smell beautiful!
Monday, 6 November 2017  |  Emma

Bought these as just switched to cloth nappies and disposable wipes were actually more fuss. I’d had a selection of wipes to borrow from our local nappy library and they did the job, but I was so excited when these arrived!

They are HUGE! I am sure one alone will easily cope with a significant poo job or some serious pasta sauce decoration, leaving plenty for freshening up & the rest of the time. I have no concerns about getting mucky fingers.

They are also super soft (we have bamboo velour) and smell beautiful with the oils (so much so I think I can use a little less and make it last longer). We also received some free minkee/bamboo ones with cute little designs on them. They’re even softer (I can’t stop stroking them!) so we decided to keep them dry and use for face freshens with a little tap water and ‘drying off’ when bottom air time is not easy (e.g. when we’re out and about). However the soaking box has enough room for the extras if we did want them wet!

We had a couple of small hiccups with ordering - a missing email and some free wipes left off- but the customer service team were absolutely fantastic and got things sorted super fast. I always feel the mark of a good company is not being faultless but in being experts at fixing issues, and the team were fantastic.

Thank you for a lovely product. Highly recommended!

I'm a convert
Monday, 16 October 2017  |  Helen

I'll admit to being sceptical about cloth pads, but after years of irritation and painful rashes caused by disposables I decided to give them a go. I went for the full kit as it gave me a mixture of pads, some cotton, some minky and with different lengths and so far I'm very impressed. No leaks at all and they're so comfortable. I don't even know I have them on! The free wipes that came with the pads are lovely and soft and the mucky box is great for discretely soaking used pads. I would definitely recommend and will be buying again.

Fabulous make up removal pads
Wednesday, 4 October 2017  |  Maya

I absolutely love these colourful make up removal pads. I chose the gorgeous rainbow pattern ones. I have been using them for a couple of weeks and really impressed with how well they remove my makeup. I'm trying to slowly start using reusable items for myself and family so thought this would be a good place to start. I would normally use at least 10 cotton wool pads in a day for my daily routine, whereas now one cheeky wipes removal pads will do! I love the two textures to the pads, the patterned side it so soft and great for the eye area, takes mascara off no problem and the other side is good for giving your face a good scrub! I'm converted! x

Toilet Paper Alternative Family Cloth Wipes Kit
Thursday, 21 September 2017  |  Ella

I was extremely suspicious that this would be gross, but after eharing about it on radio 2, my husband wouldn't stop talking about it, and since we're planning to use reusable nappies for our hopefully-arriving-soon baby I thought we'd give it a go. We love them, they feels great and make the bathroom smell good, Would recommend to give it a go, especially after seeing that article in the BBC news about the 250 fat berg of toilet paper they found under London!

Glad I made the move
Friday, 1 September 2017  |  Lauri

I was definitely one of those ewww! people. But having started using the sani pads recently (and wished I had found them years ago) and then hearing you on Radio 2 I thought I'd give the toilet set a go. It took a while for me to unpack the parcel and start to use it (still at the squeamish stage) but everything is so well thought out, even the way the mesh bag fits into the mucky box and the smells from the added scented oils are great and so refreshing. So now I can say I have used it for a number 2 as well as number 1 and am delighted with how easy it is and how fresh I feel. There's nothing more annoying than paper that tears when you're wiping, and this eliminates all that. I am new to this and haven't washed them yet but it all seems to be going very smoothly. I have now ordered some of the rainbow cloths to replace my cleaning cloths and kitchen paper. Final step is to convince the rest of the family! So glad I found this product!

So pleased with these !
Thursday, 3 August 2017  |  Rebecca

I am so impressed with the quality of these wipes. Trying to talk my husband round to using reusable wipes (already use reusable nappies) was a bit tricky but once they arrived and I showed him how they work he thinks they're fantastic ! I bought the full kit and additional wipes to keep in the bathroom as facial wipes. I keep a wet bag in my handbag for out and about, a box in the kids room and facial wipes in the bathroom. I didn't realise how well 25 wipes would do (I bought a total of 65) so I've been able to keep some aside for when our third baby arrives. 25 wipes is all I have had to use for my two messy Boys, I wash them every other day to freshen them up but even then I don't always go through the whole 25 as even for the stinkiest bums I only need one !! I've had some real messy ones and no 'pong' from them after washing and the mucky box stops them from stinking out the house perfectly, in fact the mucky box doesn't even smell when I open it that's to the essential oils. I've been raving about these to everyone even for facial wipes for those without children. Once baby #3 is born I also plan to try the reusable feminine products. Using these is so easy (and cheap!). I was spending a fortune on water wipes. Very long review I know but these really are fantastic !

No more toilet roll!
Thursday, 13 July 2017  |  Ruth

Well initially I was a little grossed out by the idea of this but had recently bought some cloth sanitary pads (sorry, not CW) elsewhere as I was fed up of buying so many TENA let alone filling the bin and landfill with them, I was so pleasantly surprised at how nice they were and my friend had been raving about how great CW were for her kids that I decided I would take the adult version plunge! Toilet Paper Alternative. I've had to pack them away for a few weeks while my bathroom is being renovated (I didn't want my lovely wipes and boxes to be covered in dust, muck and dirt!) and I miss them so much!!! I can honestly say once the bath room is finished there will be no going back! You feel so fresh! You only need one wipe per visit whether you're doing a "number 2" or just a pee. Not having to buy loads of toilet paper and flushing so much down the toilet is just a bonus!! Like some others have commented the mucky box is a bit small for using as a toilet paper alternative but I love the system and that the mucky box even has a scent too! I might look into the idea that others have suggested of a pedal bin with the mesh bag as the bag is much bigger than the mucky wipes box. I love all the different scents and bought them all to try. I also got some flannel wipes for hands and face and use the rose and geranium oil with a bit of the coconut oil for them. Lovely! I've got dermatitis on my hands and they just love the coconut oil!
Hurry up workmen, I want to use my cheeky wipes again!

Better than expected
Thursday, 6 July 2017  |  Helen

I was a little apprehensive about trying cloth sanitary towels. My periods are heavy and I routinely had to use night time disposables throughout my period. I bought the starter pack which only has one night time pad so I did wonder if it would be a disaster. I needn't have worried. The pads are pretty (I got mixed patterns) and super soft. They feel comfortable to wear and no slippage if you take care to check that the nap is in the right direction and knickers are well fitting. No leaking problems and the day time pad coped fine. Washing out was simple and they come up as new. I used a little bit of vanish and washed on a cold setting. They take a while to dry so the starter pack wasn't big enough to get me through my whole period but I'm so pleased with the towels that I've ordered some more. Being environmental is a bonus.
