Our Cheeky Pants Cloth Sanitary Pad full kits contain:

Optional: Add some reusable intimate wipes or a double wetbag to keep your clean and dirty pads and wipes in or for using out and about

What's the difference between these and the cotton pads? The bamboo minky pads are made of bamboo viscose or charcoal microfleece with a minky outer, being manmade materials, these tend to be a little warmer to wear than the cotton pads. The bamboo minky pads are also slightly thicker and therefore more absorbent than cotton pads, so if your periods are on the heavy side, we'd recommend the bamboo minky rather than the cotton.

Minky pad kits contain 10 pads in patterns of your choice

Cheeky Pants Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill! If you're new to all this (or just new to Cheeky Pants's) then read our top tips on how to use Cheeky Pants Cloth Pads, plus how to care for your Cheeky Pants Cloth Pads - it couldn't be easier!

Bamboo / Bamboo Charcoal facing upwards

Insert the pad into your knickers with the bamboo or bamboo charcoal face upwards.  Close the poppers underneath the gusset of your knickers.

Tight Pants

Firstly, I usually try to wear fairly tight fitting pants.  If you usually keep your old, saggy. baggy pants which have really seen better days for that time of the month, time to invest in some new ones!  Tighter pants will help a cloth pad stay in place and avoid slippage.  Cotton knickers are best or cotton / lycra mix.

Turn around if you suffer from slippage

The soft outer Minky fabric has some grip - if it is inserted against the nap of the fabric.  If you notice that your pad is slipping, turn it around 180 degrees, front to back.

  • Rinse them in cold water when you change them and then soak in cold water until you are ready to wash them.
  • Wash at 20c or 30c on a longer cycle, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.
  • You can give them a squirt of stain spray and/or add a scoop of stain powder to the wash

  • No fabric softener!

  • Line dry, reshape whilst damp.
  • Do not tumble dry

  • No bleach

  • Wash dark colours separately.

  • Vegan friendly
  • Oekotex certified

Brilliant kit - everything you need
Wednesday, 9 September 2020  |

I had been thinking about using cloth sanitary pads for a while and came across Cheeky Wipes online. The starter kit was exactly what I was looking for. I picked a selection of colours and patterns and they are all great. So soft and comfortable and the mucky box and essential oils are a great idea to stop stains setting until you next put a wash on. The environmental impact is huge too and I really wish I had made the switch sooner. Keep up the good work Cheeky Wipes!

Excellent

Have only used the kit once so far but the products are comfortable, absorbent and easy to look after. The kit has everything I needed and makes the process of washing and looking after the pads simple. I am glad to have made the change!

Why didn't I make the switch sooner?
Saturday, 29 August 2020  |

This month was the first month I used these.
When I received them through the post I actually could wait to get my period. That's got to be a first.
The designs are super cute and the pads are so soft.
I personally have a heavy flow and usually when I stand up and gravity takes effect I can feel it pooling. With these reusable pads though the absorbency is amazing! Doesn't feel uncomfortable.
On the heavy days when I was working I would use them as well as a menstrual cup but that's because I don't have a mucky bag yet! Will definitely be my next purchase.
Easy to rinse (and very satisfying). Just run under cold water, scrub and ring out. Popped them in the mucky box with cold water until I was ready to wash.
I was a bit dubeus when washing as I didn't think stains would come out. Following the washing instructions though they don't stain at all. Cool wash (20į-30į) scoop of eco stain remover and they come out like new.
I would recommend that you do wear tight fitting underwear though as the can slip backwards.
I feel so proud that I made no landfill waste this month though.
If you're unsure about swapping, just take the plunge and do it. You won't regret it

Why didnít I make the change sooner?
Thursday, 28 May 2020  |

Iíve been thinking about making the change to reusable sanitary pads for a while, but it was weirding me out a bit too much, particularly as I have very heavy periods.

But then a friend said sheíd tried and found them really easy to use, and also pointed out itís just like putting a pair of pants that have a little blood on them in the wash.

So, Iíve made the change, used and washed. And the verdict is I canít believe Iíve not done this sooner!

The pads are more comfortable than disposables and I didnít have the usual rash on my inside legs that I usually get, particularly after the hot weather weíve been having.

There is absolutely no smell coming from the box (which was another concern Iíd had), other than the tea tree oil when the box is opened.

I use a product called Soak in the box, as all the stain removers I looked at said not to put in a sealed container as it might cause an explosion!

The pads have also been through the wash, and all but one had come up perfectly clean. One has a tiny stain, possibly from my heaviest day, but itís really not noticeable.

The kit did seem a little expensive, but the quality of the products is worth the price (bit sad I just missed the £10 off deal though).

I am super impressed with all aspects of using the reusable pads, including knowing thereís a reduction in the packaging and waste going to landfill. Would definitely recommend making the change.

Reuseable sanitary wear
Monday, 20 April 2020  |

I bought this starter set, as wanted to give them a whirl, no better time than lockdown. I didn't think they would be able to handle my heavy flow but they were better than normal towels. Plus I didn't even feel like I was wearing anything, they were that comfy.
The different sized towels were fab with the different flows of my period. Usually towards the end of my period, my skin is so sore and uncomfortable from sanitary towels, but thankfully I didn't get the soreness.
I was a bit dubious about the washing, as I'm a bit queasy. But you just put them straight in the mesh bag in the mucky box and then throw them in the washing machine. They wash really well. Its definitely a game changer for me. I will never return to throw away ones.

So easy to use and comfortable
Friday, 17 April 2020  |

I was hesitant to start using these as I thought they could never be absorbent enough or as easy to use as disposable. But the Mucky box, mesh bag and essential oil make clean up easy and not unpleasant; and they were definitely absorbent enough for what I needed.
I think my only drawback is the standard ones keep moving for me. Maybe I needed to only buy the larger ones like I did with disposable. Just a thought. Apart from that they are fab!

Loving these.
Wednesday, 4 March 2020  |

I left it a little while to write a review as I didn't want it to be inaccurate or false.
Ive got on really well with these they wash well. And the system with the net bag and mucky box really worked for me. I bough and additional wet bag to help me when I'm out and about. But the purchase was definitely worth the investment.

Very comfortable, great alternative to the traditional pad
Sunday, 13 October 2019  |

These pads are a great alternative to the traditional pad. Very comfortable. I brought the full kit as I want to try the different sizes. The only issue I have found is the woth the liners and the day pads slide backwards, I have tried turning them around like the website suggested but they still moved. I would suggest to move the wing points from the middle to towards the back this should then stop them sliding as they would hit the wider part of your pants
