Clear the Freezer - update 2

I would say that all in all last weeks Freezer clear out operation was well received.  Particular stand-outs were the home-made pasta with anchovy butter and broccoli which was gobbled up by all the kids who thought it was very amusing to see who had the longest bit of pasta...some of them were about 4 ft long.

In saying that though, at least they all ate it!

The salmon burgers also went down well with no1 son and the adults, however by then round 2 of the sickness bug had kicked in, meaning that neither daughter was really eating anything much.  And no2 son wasn't keen but that's not surprising given that they weren't beige coloured and generally he prefers bland and beige.   Favourite items to eat chips, plain pasta or potatoes.  With a side helping of porridge.  Very dull.

And H and I really enjoyed having Chilli two nights in a row..although that was topped by the anniversary dinner of fillet steak, onion rings and saute new potatoes that we had on Sunday evening, yum, yum, yum. 

A change in plan (i.e. not reading my own menu plan properly) meant that the pork burgers and mango salsa came off the menu for Monday, pushed back to Friday of this week...And Wednesday's salmon burgers became Monday night's dinner.  This week we've got a birthday celebration on Thursday and are away on Saturday night, so again, not much chance to use stuff up, but we'll keep trying.  I WILL get to the bottom of my freezer!

  • Tuesday:  Spag Bol

  • Weds:  cauliflower cheese soup & cheese & onion bread
  • Thurs:  Fish & Chips from chip shop!
  • Fri:  Thai Pork Burgers & Sweet Potato Wedges 
  • Saturday: Visiting friends, so cheese board and rhubarb and custard cake...
  • Sunday: meatballs & mashed potato 
  • Monday: Nigella's home-made chicken goujons & greek salad
  • Tuesday: spag bol from freezer
  • Wednesday:  Home-made Pizza (The Jamie Oliver 30 minute PIzza goes down just as well as the oven baked one and is much easier to make
