Cheeky Mama Ultrapads - Luxury Cloth Cotton Sanitary Pads from Cheeky Wipes - for heavy flow

Size:        30cm x 7 cm (approx.) - suitable for heavy days of your period, overnight use or severe incontinence.

Consists of 4 layers:

  • Leakproof printed cotton outer layer (laminated),
  • Two absorbent cotton/organic cotton layers,
  • Inner layer cotton / organic cotton
  • No fluorescence, bleaching, formaldehyde, dioxins or any harmful chemicals that cause rash, irritation and itching.

What's the difference between these and the bamboo minky pads? The ultrapads are made of cotton which is a natural material rather than minky which is manmade. As such it tends to be cooler to wear. They are also thinner, so if you prefer a thinner more discreet pad or if you're buying for a teenager, these are perfect for you. They are also less likely to move around as the cotton fabric will stay in place better. The downside of being thinner is that they are less absorbent, so if your periods are on the heavy side, we'd recommend the bamboo minky instead.

Please note that the price quoted is for s SINGLE pad, multipacks are available separately.

Care Instructions:  Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.  Line dry, reshape whilst damp.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill!  If you're new to all this (or just new to Cheeky Mama's) then read our top tips on how to use Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads, plus how to care for your Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads - it couldn't be easier!

Why not add some of our reusable intimate wipes to your order and / or a wetbag for carrying clean and dirty pads / wipes? You can also buy the pads in packs of 5 or 10 , alternatively take a look at our Cheeky Mama Sanitary Pad kits and SAVE money!

Quite flimsy to hold and the shape seemed out of proportion to the clip part.

Disappointed

Was very disappointed - was comfortable but the stains would not come out even though I followed care instructions to the letter. I'll just stick with bamboo/minkee - definitely prefer those

Response:

Thanks for taking the time to review the pads. I find that giving them a spray with some stain remover before they go in the machine does the job. I wash them on 30 or 40 on a longer wash - a quick wash wont give them long enough to move about in the machine!

Thin and comfortable
Sunday, 10 December 2017  |

Deceptively thin pad that stays in place well. Softens after a couple of washes. Not as soft as the bamboo and minky cloth but very comfortable and cool to wear.

Not worth the money unless improvements are made
Friday, 13 October 2017  |

These pads are very thin and discreet and would offer excellent protection if they would stay in place. I've used mine only a handful of times between the both of them because I'm just not protected. The pads constantly slide up the back of my underwear, leaving me prone to leaking as there is no coverage at the front and I can't very well keep pulling the pad back to the front every 10 minutes. Very disappointing considering how much each pad cost, not ideal for nighttime or postpartum as they aren't long enough. The minky pads, on the other hand, although thicker, are amazing, stay in place and are a great length.

not as gross as I thought!
Monday, 3 July 2017  |

A year ago, the thought of CSP disgusted me, dealing with the blood and washing seemed unsanitary. Since giving birth thrush has plagued every period and in desperation I turned to cloth. I am converted. No thrush. In a heat wave, no sweaty, self conscious stinkiness. The cleaning of the blood is nothing compared to even disposable poonami blowouts. I am converted! The fact it works out cheaper in the long run is just a bonus.

Great pad

I was initially a bit sceptical about the shape of this pad, but it is brilliant, especially for traveling in. Great coverage, doesn't move about, great absorbency and super thin, what more could you want!

Perimenopausal Flood Barrier!

This has been amazing for me. I use it at night and the absorbency is amazing. Very very limited clean ups needed in terms of bedding etc on waking now. I'm surprised at how much less these smell than the chemical disposable pads, everything smells fresher. And this is amazingly comfortable, feels just like wearing underwear - no bulk or discomfort.

Good! But there could be improvements

Very fast delivery and generally nice products
You have to rethink your packaging though, the items got very smushed to me.
I am not totally convinced yet about the quality of the bag and wipes, it seems to me that might fall apart rather soon, but I will see
I love the cloth pad, but if I would have know from the website it was made in Korea, I would have opted for a shop where they offer EU made products, to avoid the long distance shipping and support workers here. I thought that is the case with this shop...
Thank you anyway for your effort and for providing me with my first cloth pad and reusable toilet paper

Wish I'd tried these sooner
Tuesday, 22 May 2018  |  Helen

I decided not to use my moon cup this month, so I could give the cloth sani pads a proper try out, and I was so impressed I really wish I'd given them a go sooner!

I realised pretty quickly, that if I put the pads in with the nap (the direction of the fuzz on the velour) laying so the smooth goes backwards, they do wriggle back a bit and I ended up getting leaks at the front; but once I'd figured that I've out and started putting them in the other way around, so the smooth direction was going forwards, I had no problems at all.

They were significantly less gross than I was expecting, especially given how moon cups can leave you looking like you've been sacrificing small rodents to Mother Nature! They are surprisingly absorbent, and I actually found I had less period pain or other PMS symptoms than usual. Cleaning them was a breeze, and for the first time ever I am actually slightly looking forward to my next visit from the period fairy, so I can use them again! Full marks, Cheeky Wipes!!

Fabulous

I really was sceptical about using reusable wipes.... well I didn’t need to be....
These wipes are honestly just lovely, really good quality, cleans my child soooo much better than a wet wipe, smells amazing and so much more refreshing. My child doesn’t have a massive screaming fit now when been cleaned and I use them for her, for us and for certain things in the house ect
Stayed in perfect condition after washing and tumble drying them, also I purchased the extra pouch to take the wipes out and About,
The pouch is also fantastic keeps the wipes perfectly and folds up lovely in your bag and does not make your bag wet at all!! Even the oil itself is really good quality, I would 100% recommend this product and this company, ordering and delivery was also very easy and efficient and I must say I am certainly not a easy person to please at all 🙈 Thankyou I’m so happy with my purchase

Pretty pink perfection
Wednesday, 9 May 2018  |  Gillian

Great design , the cute pink waterproof bag sits discreetly in the bathroom disguised as a toilet bag until the dreaded " bad week !" when it springs into action - no actually it's no big deal , I can't think of anything at all making them harder to use than the annoying sticky things that wash up disgustingly on our local beach ! .
It's not yucky , the oils smell lovely and the huge bonus for me personally is the respite from evil thrush !
Infact I used to purchase "That proprietary cream " so often that I could use my chemist loyalty card points to buy myself perfume every few months !
Not that I'm complaining - it's a simple swap that has made life better and although it's an initial outlay it saves money in the long run .
You too can smile smuggly in the supermarket as you sail past the aisle of pricey ,plasticky , winged things that you no longer need .

Sanitary pads kit
Sunday, 29 April 2018  |  Melissa

These pads are so great. Recently I've been struggling with disposables and tampons plus hate the waste and generally dreading my period more and more as disposable protection caused soreness and thrush. Plus I have a young daughter and I felt I needed to find an environmentally friendly and nicer sanitary protection to be a good role model for her. I often thought if there were washable sanitary pads as I used washable nappies for all my children so I was pleased to find these. They are so comfortable and easy to use plus wash well and only need a cold wash. I love them and no one in my household commented on the tub in the bathroom. I've used them out the house too and found changing them so easy as have the bag provided to take used pads home. Plus my daughter loves them and thinks all the designs are so pretty and soft and so much nicer for me than 'those boring white ones' Highly recommend. This period I didn't feel yucky and had no unpleasant bin to empty or having to use yucky public toilet bins and the washing n drying was easy. I'm mid forties and still think the money paid for these is worth it after just one month of use! Wish I'd bought them years ago.

Wish I’d known about these sooner...
Saturday, 21 April 2018  |  Claire

I came across Cheeky Wipes when looking for an alternative to big brand sanitary protection, and although I haven’t purchased the cotton Cheeky Mama Pads - yet - I did go for the Cheeky Bum Wipes Full Kit with extra rainbow cotton wipes and I am so so glad I did. Yes, the intial layout may seem a bit on the pricey side, but I can absolutely confirm that they are worth every single penny, and of course, within a few months they’ve practically paid for themselves anyway, not to mention that you’re reducing the amount of plastic going in the bin by quite a lot.

I opted for the organic rainbow cotton wipes after reading the handy helpful guide ‘which fabric is best for cloth baby wipes?’ I absolutely love them, they have been washed and washed and washed and are still incredibly soft and so far have kept their colour. They are gentle on Bubs’ skin, and I very rarely use more than one wipe per change, occasionally needing two for those extra big poos (where *do* they come from?)! As with the usual baby wipes, I use these for anything and everything, nappy changes, feeding time, a quick wipe down when out and about, wiping food from clothes, floors and furniture etc., so they have proved to be just as versatile and useful.

As for washing, I don’t find I’m doing any more washing than I was beforehand, I have two teenage boys who are shower mad so I just chuck the wipes in with our towels every 3/4 days or so on a 60 degree wash. They wash well and haven’t stained at all, not even from the dreaded tomatoey pasta sauces!

Hubby is converted too and we are now talking about buying the ‘Toilet Paper Alternative Wipes’ (much to our teens’ displeasure 🤣 - they’ll come round) and I have already filled my basket with the ‘Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pad Full kit’ ready for next pay day.

If you are reading this review umming and ahhing over whether or not to take the plunge, do it. You won’t regret it.

Everything you need
Tuesday, 3 April 2018  |  Rebecca

Great quality items, the tub is easy to operate with one hand and the little tabs to hook the wash bag on are genius! The little wash bag is a perfect size too and washes out clean. The pads are wonderful, it is a bit strange at first as you can feel the poppers when you sit down but that is comfort to make you remember you did put a pad on because they do feel more like fabric than a disposable pad. Normally I will have a couple of small leaks if I’ve not been sat upright or lying on my side in bed but none with these as even the wings will absorb too. The little oil is a lovely smell too which also helps when the washing and emptying is needed. Would definitely recommend.

Cheeky Wipe & Cloth Pad convert
Wednesday, 21 March 2018  |  Natalie

I diwcovered Cheeky Wipes in May last year when my son was less than 2 months old.
I started with the bamboo velour wipes  - even hubby wasn't put off nappy changes with these! I decided to buy a full kit with rainbow microfibre wipes and have been able to mix and match the boxes with the bamboo wipes for nappy changes and use the microfibre for face & hand washing now we're on to 'proper' eating.
The wipes are brilliant! They're so nice in comparison to disposable wipes. So soft on his bottom - we've not had nappy rash or aggrevasion to his skin at all. The essential oils are perfect and I even stir a little bit of coconut oil in to the fresh box!
We don't have tears after a face & hand wash either - what bliss.
However, the inevitable stage post-birth was the return of the dreaded periods.
I used to be a mooncup user pre-baby but found when they returned I was finding it rather awful. The disposable sanitary wear came out and I was getting so uncomfortable and sore that I needed to find something to save me. Well - Cloth sanitary pads ... what heavenly delight are these. I agree with previous reviews, tighter knickers are the way forward to stop them from slip & sliding. And the new patterns - beautiful!
I am so delighted with my new purchase and I love the minky bamboo wipes that came free that month. These are great for taking make up off and I'm even using some left over wipes from all of my CW collection to trial going paper free in the bathroom... that may take a little more convincing on the hubby.
I'm an absolute convert and have been recommending you to all my new mama friends and all I can say is, Cheeky wipes - you've made my life easier over the last year and I thank you!!!

Amazing! So pleased I tried!
Saturday, 16 December 2017  |  Kimberley

I love these wipes!!! I was getting grumpy with the fact that disposable wipes came out three at a time, they smelled of chemicals and when you get to the bottom half of the packet you have to fight to get a wipe out and then they all come out together. What a massive waste of money the disposables are!

We use reusable nappies and when I was going to buy reuseable wipes when I was pregnant my friends accused me of going a step too far and boarding the hippy train! Well I ended up having two nappy bins; one for my disposable wipes and one for my reusable nappies. Utter nonsense! So however ‘on board the train’ I was getting I decided to give the wipes a go. Totally amazing! Easy peasy! They smell divine, I did buy the full kit as I like the idea of presoaking the dirty wipes rather than them sitting in the nappy bin and I chuck them in the wash with my nappies. Amazing! Brilliant! Fast service! I’m a complete convert and will never look back, not to mention the fact that you get to help save the planet too!! I intend to buy more when I’m weaning!
Thank you cheeky wipes!!!!

CSP convert!
Friday, 15 December 2017  |  Joanna

Having used cheeky wipes and cloth nappies on my daughter for the last 12 months, it was an obvious step to look into CSP when my period finally returned. I found disposable pads made me feel quite sore and uncomfortable, due to my episiotomy scar. So after lots of research, I decided to take the plunge and order a full CSP kit, plus 5 extra night time pads (so I'd feel secure on my heavier days). For the first time ever, I was looking forward to my period coming, so I could try them out! I was expecting them to feel very different to wearing a disposable pad, but actually they felt quite similar, but without the itch and smell. I was surprised to find I didn't feel desperate for a shower each morning, like I normally would during my period. There was one moment at work, I became a bit worried the pad was showing through my trousers, as it's a bit bulkier than an equivalent disposable, but after a quick check in the mirror, all was well! Like other reviews warned me, there was a bit of movement with the pad, but with a bit of experimenting with underwear, turning pads around and wearing tights/leggings, it wasn't a big issue, and I had hardly any leakage on my underwear and none on my clothes, which I'm not used to! There was one day where I was walking around town, and found the longer night pads, gave me more security, regarding movement, as they're longer. I chose the bamboo top, as I thought I'd prefer that to fleece against my skin, although I was a bit concerned it might feel damp against me - I didn't ever feel wet, although during my heaviest days, I was sometimes aware it needed changing, which is no different to my experience of disposables. I found the soaking system in the mucky box very easy and not disgusting at all. My husband didn't question the appearance of the pink mucky box, alongside our green one, and it feels discrete enough to leave out even when we had visitors. I had a slightly lighter period than usual (not sure if this was a result of using cloth?), and found with 7 night pads, 6 day pads and 2 liners, I needed to wash after the first 2 days, when I'm heaviest. I think I'd find 4 or 5 more pads useful, as it was a struggle to get them to dry quick enough, even with the dehumidifier on. I was surprised not to have to do another wash, but found the pads can definitely be worn longer than disposable ones. I'm definitely a cloth convert, and can't see I'll ever be returning to disposables. Thank you for a brilliant product!
