What's the difference between these and the bamboo minky pads? The ultrapads are made of cotton which is a natural material rather than minky which is manmade. As such it tends to be cooler to wear. They are also thinner, so if you prefer a thinner more discreet pad or if you're buying for a teenager, these are perfect for you. They are also less likely to move around as the cotton fabric will stay in place better. The downside of being thinner is that they are less absorbent, so if your periods are on the heavy side, we'd recommend the bamboo minky instead.

Care Instructions: Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads. Line dry, reshape whilst damp.
Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.
Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.
Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill! If you're new to all this (or just new to Cheeky Mama's) then read our top tips on how to use Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads, plus how to care for your Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads - it couldn't be easier!
Optional: Add extra pads, some reusable intimate wipes or a mucky box to soak your dirty pads, alternatively take a look at our Cheeky Mama Sanitary Pad kits and SAVE money!

Bamboo / Bamboo Charcoal facing upwards
Insert the pad into your knickers with the bamboo or bamboo charcoal face upwards. Close the poppers underneath the gusset of your knickers.
Firstly, I usually try to wear fairly tight fitting pants. If you usually keep your old, saggy. baggy pants which have really seen better days for that time of the month, time to invest in some new ones! Tighter pants will help a cloth pad stay in place and avoid slippage. Cotton knickers are best or cotton / lycra mix.
Turn around if you suffer from slippage
The soft outer Minky fabric has some grip - if it is inserted against the nap of the fabric. If you notice that your pad is slipping, turn it around 180 degrees, front to back.
I started using these after baby arrived over 2 years ago. I hated the plastic pads after first baby. This was such a relief! I mistreat them every month by washing them too hot. They take it like a girl and keep going strong for me. (20 menstruations + 6 weeks postpartum and they are just not quitting)My only complaint is that they are too sturdy. I never get to buy the sweet, cool, new designs. They have saved me money as well. I used to spend up to Ä6 per month in san pads. The pads have been cost free for me for 10 months now. My personal wish is for an even more absorbent pads. However, these pads are thin, comfy and last me twice the time of a regular throw-away night pad. It really saves my sanity not to switch pads every hour and a half. I now have 3 hours to go about whatever, with much less leakage. (I am a heavy bleeder. Normal flow should not give any leaks. I have not been this leak-free in life.)

Does what it says on the tin. I haven't been able to make these stain free, even when soaking in cold water, and putting it on a cold rinse/ wash, it must be the material. These cotton ones are much less sweaty than the bamboo minky ones, so I find them much better even though they stain. The buttons do dig in when I cycle so it is not completely comfortable, but it is great to not be using disposables and it is one of the cheapest reusable pads on the market.

These are the best cloth san pro I've tried - cotton ones are thin and super comfy and ultra absorbent, they wash well, don't slip around or encourage thrush and don't smell at all - that awful 'period' smell I've hated all my life...turns out it was the awful plastic pads I was using not me! Never going back. I use the 'maternity' size which is a bit alarming but I obvs have a heavy flow and they aren't bulky at all. On really really heavy days and overnight I use the Minky bamboo ones which absorb a ridiculous amount but are a bit bulky for everyday wear for me. Cheeky wipes prices are unbeatable and the quality is fantastic. Wish I'd had these 25 years ago!!
These are so much more comfortable than disposables.

I've been using these post partum as maternity pads once my main bleeding had stopped. Found them comfy and absorbent, although don't know what they would be like if I was back to my normal period flow. They come out reasonably well in the wash but find it's best if you pre-soak them first.
This is my first time going down the reusable route and I am pleasantly surprised. Once you get over the rinsing straight after and putting in to soak rather than binning itís a breeze. Glad I made the change and will be buying more so I can use all the time rather than just when at home
Quite flimsy to hold and the shape seemed out of proportion to the clip part.
Deceptively thin pad that stays in place well. Softens after a couple of washes. Not as soft as the bamboo and minky cloth but very comfortable and cool to wear.
A year ago, the thought of CSP disgusted me, dealing with the blood and washing seemed unsanitary. Since giving birth thrush has plagued every period and in desperation I turned to cloth. I am converted. No thrush. In a heat wave, no sweaty, self conscious stinkiness. The cleaning of the blood is nothing compared to even disposable poonami blowouts. I am converted! The fact it works out cheaper in the long run is just a bonus.
I was initially a bit sceptical about the shape of this pad, but it is brilliant, especially for traveling in. Great coverage, doesn't move about, great absorbency and super thin, what more could you want!
