Our Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pad starter kits contain:

Optional: Add extra pads, some reusable intimate wipes or a mucky box to soak your dirty pads

Bamboo & Minky pad kits contain 5 pads in different colours.

Care Instructions:  Wash at 20c or 30c, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.  Line dry, reshape whilst damp.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill! If you're new to all this (or just new to Cheeky Mama's) then read our top tips on how to use Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads, plus how to care for your Cheeky Mama Cloth Pads - it couldn't be easier!

Less than expected
Friday, 12 May 2017  |

No, not the product quality... they're soft, absorbent and comfortable.
The over all cost and the number of pads needed was less than I'd expected. I really wasn't sure about doing this because of the initial outlay, I started with pantyliners and once I realised one liner lasted all day and how fab these are, I decided to invest in the sanitary pads too. Highly recommended!

Cloth sanitary pad starter kit
Wednesday, 10 May 2017  |

I have been wantimg to try out the cloth sanitary pads for a long while but with having heavy periods, ive been worried about leaking and them not absorbing well enough. I used night time diposable pads during the day as well as at night and still suffered with leaks as well as them being umcomfortable and causing soreness. This is my first time using them this week and they are so soft and confortable. And no leakage during the night with the night pad but a little leakage in the day with the day pads but i thinl thats because they are slightly not long enough and have moved a little. Still very happy with them even for this reason as the comfort factor and night time protection has been amazing. Have reccomended them to my sister in law

Soft & easy to use
Monday, 1 May 2017  |

This was my first foray into CSPs and I'm definitely a convert. They were easier to use than I expected and I even managed to rinse them at work (the ladies happened to be fairly quiet) before popping the used pad into the wet bag.
I was mindful of them slipping, so paid a lot of attention to the fabric underneath to judge which way around to put them. They worked well.
I did experience leakage on my first v heavy night, so next time will more carefully position pad, and wear knickers that are more snug just for the overnight.
If I were to ask for an improvement, it would be in the pattern options for the bags. Something a little more bold or feminine and less baby like would be great.

Life changing
Monday, 27 March 2017  |

The have literally been a god send for me, I've had issues with menstrual bleeding for the pads few years and have bled almost everyday for the past 2 years, for the first time in those two years I have had a break of 2 weeks on not bleeding, I believe these are the only thing that have helped with this change as I feel the products in the usual pads had an effect on my body and were playing with my hormones a lot. These are life changing for me thankyou

Great little kit
Friday, 17 March 2017  |

It's great little kit, that came really quickly. Like some other reviews I'm still getting the hang of the right way round to put it so it doesn't slip. But looking forward to trying it out some more when I need to.

Thanks for reviewing the kit Anna. Just a couple of ideas for you to stop the slipping - the underside fabric (the minky side) can be brushed in 2 different directions. If you are finding the pad slipping a little, try turning it 180 degrees so what was at the front is now at the back - this sounds odd but if the fabric is going in the other direction it grips better on your underwear and stays put! We also recommend wearing a tighter pant with a high percentage of lycra in, this also helps keep them in place.

Converted!

Very comfortable, much more absorbant than disposable, no odour. The double popper is very useful in ensuring the pads don't wander whichever knickers you choose. I bought two sets, one with the add on of extra day pads and one with the add on of extra night pads which when mixed up have made two perfect kits! As a household we cannot live without the wires every single day and the travel bags with waterproof section for used pads are beautiful and just the right size for out and about.

sanitary pad kit
Friday, 9 December 2016  |

I bought this kit as after having my third child I have experienced difficulties using my normal female hygiene products.

I was a bit dubious I have to say, but I use re-usable nappies and reusable wipes on my baby, so whats good enough for him is good enough for me. I was really surprised as to how much the pads absorb, and I don't get that horrible sweaty feeling I get from disposable pads (sorry if TMI). Anyway I found them absorbent and comfortable. Only minor disadvantages (and I emphasis minor) is rinsing and then soaking them whilst I wait to do a coloured wash... I have a very nosy 8 year old who wants an explanation for everything, And I think as other people have mentioned -- pad slippage. I think non slippage placement of the pads may come with practice

So all in all I am happy with my purchase and will probably purchase more of them as I only got the starter kit. Thumbs up from me.

Be brave - you won't regret it!
Thursday, 19 May 2016  |

I was initially rather squeamish about trying these but I always find that disposables cause irritation, so eventually decided to take the plunge. I am so glad I did!

They do feel a little bulky at first, compared to disposables but within about 10 minutes of putting the first one in, I had forgotten I was wearing one. At first, I was going off to the toilet to "check" but soon grew to accept that yes, they really DO work, nothing was leaking and the pad doesn't slip (just remember to follow the advice about having the nap of the fabric in the correct direction).

I chose the black topped ones and you really can't see anything, so much nicer than a disposable! The only thing is, you have no idea how much blood they have absorbed - I was quite shocked (in a good way), when I washed the first one out, as they arrived on day 2 of a heavy period. The fact that I have the black topped pads meant that I didn't see anything other than diluted blood during washing.

Cleaning was far less scary than I had anticipated - a few minutes soaking in a small bucket of cold water, then several rinses until the water ran clear. Then soak in water with tea tree oil until ready to wash in cool soapy water for reuse (obviously, if I had more I probably wouldn't need to wash/reuse). At the end of the period, chuck them all in the washing machine to make sure they're all thoroughly sanitised.

I won't be going back to disposables and have ordered a full kit to complement this starter kit. I will be definitely be recommending to all my friends!

Absorbent, but the smaller ones can be prone to moving
Friday, 13 May 2016  |

The panty liner size moves around a lot, a very tight pair of knickers is required. the regular size are good though, they don't move too much. I was a little self conscious using these for the first time as they are thick but they are very absorbent and feel much nicer than disposables.

Fantastic

Light and easy to wear. You don't notice you are wearing a pad at all. They don't leak like commercial plastic sanitary pads or give you the waddle. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative product to plastic products.

I thought the normal wipes were soft but these are something else! Using on newborn skin without the oils and a million times easier than cotton wool.

Perfect fabric for little hands and faces
Thursday, 4 May 2017  |  Debbie

This is a handy little kit for weaning, especially if you're following baby-led approaches or if little one is a fan of finger foods. Microfibres are the perfect all round cloth for this, pick up the dirt - no matter how sticky - yet they're soft and gentle on baby's skin. The number of wipes I'm saving from landfil is just an added bonus!

Excellent product for post-natal mums

I found these to be a saviour in the weeks after having a baby. They were so much more comfortable than disposable pads and helped give me some much needed comfort. Would definitely recommend to other mums

I wish I had found out sooner !

I'm a forty something woman now , imagine the money and bit of the planet I could have saved if I had discovered cloth sanitary pads as a teenager ?! ( ok cheekywipes weren't invented then ).not to mention the Thrush angle - I've not had thrush ( a regular monthly visitor ) since I switched to cloth towels - makes sense when you think about it your pants don't give you thrush do they ? I've gone for the charcoal ones this time just because my old ones , I've had them for years now , are looking a bit grey - well I would have chucked my old greying pants by now ! They are still perfectly functional but this time if they start off grey then I won't have to think about it .
Snug fitting pants are the answer and as my thong days are gone it's not an issue - just think you will never have that horrible sticky pad sticking in the wrong place or yanking a hair out feeling again !.( ok just me is it ?)

Absolutely love cheeky wipes, can't believe I waited so long to take the plunge into reuseable wipes. Would highly recommend. Have since purchased extra boxes to use with my newborn and 1year old so we can have a set upstairs and down!

Perimenopausal Flood Barrier!

This has been amazing for me. I use it at night and the absorbency is amazing. Very very limited clean ups needed in terms of bedding etc on waking now. I'm surprised at how much less these smell than the chemical disposable pads, everything smells fresher. And this is amazingly comfortable, feels just like wearing underwear - no bulk or discomfort.

Cheeky wipes

Debated buying cheeky wipes for a while after chatting to friends who use them.

We love them!

We're much happier using wipes on hand, face and bums that we know have nothing nasty in them and we also love the smells!

I was a bit dubious, but felt bad about the amount of nappies and wipes in our bin.
I wish I had bought them sooner, although initially I felt the kit was expensive, it really does contain everything you need- even a travel pouch for when out and about. Really recommend.

Dubious customer turned convert!
Wednesday, 5 April 2017  |  Susan

I debated cloth sanitary towels for a long while before buying a starter set. I have particularly heavy periods and always use two night towels at a time, on my worst days I can still go through these in 2-3 hours. I really didn't expect these to be good enough to cope but having used cloth nappies and wipes with 4 children I wasn't too bothered about the cleaning side of trying them and hoped there had to be a better way than I was using currently. They arrived, conveniently on day 1 of my cycle and I decided there was no time like the present and they coped wonderfully but it was day 1 so I wondered if it was just luck, it wasn't. With one towel at a time I went longer between changes and was more comfortable. On day 3 I needed to go at short notice to stay with family and decided this wasnt the time to carry on the experiment and went back to the disposables. If I hadn't been sure before that these are right for me I was after that, they still leaked and still needed doubling up and were less comfortable than ever. As for cleaning the cloth towels I went with rinsing where I could but when out and about it wasn't an option, rinsing was a lot less gruesome than I'd expected and even the ones I didn't rinse came up perfectly white with a 30 degree wash using bold liquitabs and a small scoop of vanish. I'm going to try without the vanish next time but they currently look unused!

Brilliant product. Much nicer on our little girl's bottom than wipes and wash really well. We'll be buying more...
