Women vs Cancer - Africa Cycle Fundraising

Women vs Cancer - Africa Cycle Fundraising  Limited Edition Turquoise Wipes

It was just after Christmas, nearly 2 years ago.  The phone rang.  It was my 34 year old baby sister.

'I've got breast cancer.  They want to remove the lump this Friday.'

I was literally speechless.  What the heck do you say to that?  Once I was capable of speaking coherently, she filled me in on the details.  Thankfully, it turned out that if you had to choose breast cancer, this is the one you would choose - on a scale of 1 to 10, it was probably a 1 or a 2.

She had the lump removed immediately and I'm really happy to say that all her check ups since then have been clear.

Women vs Cancer

I wanted to do something to help, so when Vicky & Tracy from Mummy & Little Me asked whether I would be interested in joining them for a 350km fundraising cycle through Tanzania, I jumped at the chance!  We're being joined by the lovely Mel from Melobaby (whose compact nappy wallets are FAB!) - that's if her hip and knee replacements go successfully in the mean time!

The sum total of my cycling experience is cycling to school and back occasionally and on holidays, so this is going to be a tough challenge for me, especially since the last day is 40km UP the side of a volcano!

At the moment I am focusing on getting fit and will start serious 'saddle time' come Easter of next year which will hopefully give me enough time to get 'cycle fit'.

Each entrant has to raise a mimimum of £3000, which will be split equally between Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Fundraising Turquoise Velour Wipes

I was daunted by the thought of fundraising - with 4 young children, the usual bake sales, car boots etc were going to be really time consuming.

Instead, Cheeky Wipes have launched limited edition turquoise 'Ultimate' wipes.

We last had turquoise wipes in stock a couple of years back and we know from your emails that they were really popular.  However, this time we have upgraded them to a thick, double sided cotton terry & velour fabric, which is really soft.

They are priced at £18 for 25 - however £3 from each pack of 25 will go to my fundraising for Women vs Cancer - so you can buy them guilt free knowing you are doing some good for a great cause by purchasing them!
