Cheeky Wipes as reuseable anti-bacterial kitchen wipes17 December 2013 | Admin Cheeky Wipes - fantastic reusable anti-bacterial kitchen wipesKitchen dishcloths freak me out a bit. Unless you're really careful to dry them after every use and bleach regularly, they can end up being pretty stinky. The thought of people wiping their childrens faces with a dishcloth makes me want to puke (but I have seen it done!). That's why many big brands have jumped on the band wagon with anti-bacterial washing up liquids. If you look carefully, they state that they are only anti-bacterial when applied directly to the cloth - not on your dishes as many people think. We've always used Cheeky Wipes to give a quick clear up after meal times, but recently we've started soaking some wipes just for clearing up after meals . It means you don't have to use sprays or <horror> disposable kitchen wipes. Here's what we do differently: Soaking Method (Flash' type wipes alternative) - Fill a mucky box (or clean box) with 400ml water and 8 drops of teatree & teatree lemon 'mucky' essential oil (you could do 100ml of white vinegar and 300ml of water if you want to be more heavy on the anti-bacterial side)
- soak approx 10 microfibre wipes at a time in the solution
- Use after meals to clean table and worksurfaces
- Rinse off any lumps of food under a cold tap
- wash and re-use
Spray Method (great if you want to up the anti-bac qualities!) - Fill an old spray bottles with 50% water, 50% white vinegar and 20 drops of teatree & teatree lemon oil, alternatively, use an eco cleaning product such as Nimble Sticky Stopper Anti-Bacterial Spray
- keep your microfibre wipes on hand in a cheeky wipes box
- Use after meals to clean table and worksurfaces
- Rinse off any lumps of food under a cold tap
- wash and re-use
At Cheeky Wipes HQ we find the 'soaking' method easier as it means you've got wipes on hand, ready for use. They can also double up as hands & faces wipes if you've run out of fresh ones! |
