Hi, I’m Laura and this is my daughter Arwen. We are excited to talk to you about reusable period protection because we think many women and young girls are unaware of how completely brilliant and effective they are!

Born in Northern Spain and now living in London I run Fluence Translations, a language consultancy with a green, ethical ethos.

Living responsibly and sustainably is important to me and my family. My daughter Arwen is 10½, in Year 5 at school and very aware of environmental issues – I wonder why! Here’s our story.

Challenge: to be kind to the environment and our bodies

Like many of us, I am aware of our impact on the environment and motivated to make changes. I look for ways to reduce my plastic consumption and plastic waste to care for our planet.

I think when you have children you want to do everything you can to protect their future. Arwen is enthusiastic, she is learning it is important to live responsibly. We now love our reusable water bottles, shampoo bars, eco-friendly laundry pods and my thoughts turned to the plastic waste created by sanitary pads and tampons.

This coincided with a time when my flow became heavier and I needed reliable protection with no leaks. I looked online to see what was available.

The Cheeky Wipes website was informative with a great range of attractive styles of pants and gorgeous colours to choose from, and I loved the beautiful rainbow designs on the day pads. The instructions were clear and the whole process easy and I haven’t looked back.

I have been using them for over a year now and when my daughter began her period I had no hesitation in asking if she would like to try them too.
