Reusable Nappy Starter Packs

Serious fact coming up.. Did you know that disposable nappies are filling up UK landfill sites at a major rate of 8 million nappies a day, making up 3-4% of household rubbish? This statistic is horrifying but it is something that we need to be aware of.

At Team Cheeky we’re all about Simple Reusables, so our range of cloth nappies provides simple alternatives to disposable nappies.  Which work! Our range of cloth nappy bundles come with many different benefits, but the main one is the huge positive effect they have on the environment.

Financial Benefits

Obviously it depends on what brand of nappies you buy but disposable nappies can cost between 16p and 30p each, which means you could be spending over £1,000 by the time your child is two and a half years old!!! HOWEVER, for £300 (or less) you can buy a complete set of reusable nappies that will see your child through the whole of their nappy-wearing period.

Washing Your Reusable Cloth Nappies

First things first, you need to make sure you get as much of the poo off as possible before putting your nappy into the washing machine. A lot of people ask us if they need to be rinsed before they go in the washing machine, and we do recommend that you either use our Strucket or something similar to rinse and strain your nappies.   Alternatively, a short cold water rinse cycle without detergent (as below) will do the job.

After this, your nappies can then be put on a long cycle between 40 and 60 degrees with the appropriate amount of detergent for your load.

When it comes to washing the cloth nappies, the absolute best way to dry them is on a washing line, but a drying rack or airer will also work well, but may take a little longer.

Our nappies were designed in conjunction with Penny Broderick who founded the UK Cloth Nappy Libraries back in 2009. Once designed, we ran beta tests with a very small production run and provided the sample nappies to more than 100 parents who tested the nappies and gave us their feedback before we went into full production.

They were all amazed at how absorbent and slim fitting the nappy is and many existing cloth nappy users actually switched to it as their overnight nappy.
