Best Reusable Nappies 2024

Well done on making the decision to look into cloth nappies for your baby. Not only are reusable nappies better for the environment, they can save you money long term and are more comfortable for babies.

Washable nappies reduce the amount of chemicals on your babies delicate nappy area. They can be sold on when you hit potty training.

It can seem complicated and confusing to decide which type of nappies to go for and which brands. Nappies come in bamboo, microfibre, hemp and organic cotton.

Some nappies are better for night time nappies such as two part nappies. Some nappies look just like disposable nappies. Look for your local nappy library for advice and a range of nappies.

At Cheeky, we've been all about 'Simple Reusables' since 2008, providing simple reusable products at an affordable pricepoint. That's why we aren't afraid of comparisons with our competitors. We know you can google, just like we can!

Our list of the best reusable nappies 2024 looks at pros and cons of all UK reusable nappies. It includes three of UK's biggest cloth nappy brands who sadly announced their liquidation or closure recently. Whilst we have included them, you will need to source stock from a retailer rather than the company website themselves.

This is such a hard climate for small eco businesses at the moment with a recession looming. Buy reusable nappies from an independent supplier rather than Amazon as much as you can - you'll get tailored advice which Amazon just can't match!

Here's our list of the best reusable nappies 2024:

Bambino Mio Solo

Bambino Mio Rating 3.9 / 5 Trustpilot

Type: All in one

All-in-One Nappy design provides convenience but may be bulkier. They are easy for relatives and nursery to use as everything is contained but this makes them hard to boost and lots of babies outwee them as they start to produce larger volumes.

Ease of use: Moderate

Easy to put on and great for relatives as it is all contained, but won't hold a lot of moisture so prone to leaks as baby grows

Absorbency Level: Light to Moderate

Good absorbency, suitable for moderate wetting, but may not be ideal for heavy wetters, has pocket for extra boosting.

Main Material:

Microfibre polyester

Fit and Comfort:

Adjustable fit, with hook and loop fastening though some users may prefer a slimmer profile.

Sizing: Onesize

Designed to grow with your baby from birth to potty.

Price: £13.99

Customer Reviews:

"I have been using these nappies for a couple of months (LO was 3 months old when we started and is now and average length 5 MO). They were bulky when he was smaller, but they seem less so as he has grown. They don't stop him rolling.

I have always used a booster, they have really good absorbency that way and very poor absorbency without strangely, they're a bit all or nothing. For now because my LO feeds and poos at night I use them at night with the bambino Mio flat booster and he can go as long as 7 hours if he has a good stint of sleeping, no leaks.

They are great at absorbing poo as well, no poo explosions any more, which were a daily occurrence in disposables. The absorbent strip and boosters do stain, but the stains come out really well in sunlight. Overall I'm really happy with them, they seem to work for us."

"I really love this nappy, it’s definitely one of my favourites of my stash. It fits really well around my baby and isn’t as bulky as others I have, the tri-fold gives good absorbency, I’ve managed to get a good 3-4 hours out of it on a good day! It can of course be boosted with extras as needed. I think it’s one of the more comfortable fits too as the material is lovely and soft. I’ll definitely be buying more of these."

Customer review:

"These are great overnight nappies, I’ve tried a lot of different brands of nappies but these are our favourite for overnight. You can pop big pads/boosters in them and it still doesn’t make it tight on their legs tummy, as the elasticated legs and waistband is soft and stretchy. I’ve had my first set of these for well over a year now and they are still going great, they are still comfy on my toddler - we have the size 3 and she is about 33lbs, but still lots of room for growing."

Which cloth nappy should you buy?

You should probably buy a small variety of cloth nappies as your child's needs will change.

When my son was in cloth nappies (he's thirteen this weekend!!) I found I liked to have a range of types (pockets, fitteds, AIO's) and a variety of brands so I could mix and match to suit me. Once I had a favourite I would buy extra in that brand. I loved to match t-shirts to nappy patterns too.

You may find one type suits for a few months then babies shape changes and you find the fit isn't quite right. Don't despair, as they grow and change again those nappies may go back to being a perfect fit. Reusables have good resale value, so if you have some you don't love, sell them.

The best way to wash and dry nappies is in the washing machine followed by air drying. Read our washing and care instructions for reusable nappies for more info.
