Best Period Pants Brands UK - 2023

At Cheeky Wipes (Cheeky Pants) we've been all about eco friendly, 'Simple Reusables' since we launched our first reusable wet wipes kit way back in 2008. As our bodies changed after having kids, that lead to us developing our range of reusable pee & period pads and pants.

We've been doing this a comparatively long time and when we launched reusables, it was still viewed by many as gross and weird and quite hippy-ish. We used to get some VERY funny reactions at exhibitions....

Thankfully with the focus in recent years on our 'Blue Planet' and #waronplastic, people are now way more aware of how the products that we use impact our environment.

This means that lots of big brands and High St stores are also now offering reusable period products too. That's great news for our planet!

However if you're thinking of making the switch to reusable period pants, it can be tricky to know where to start. If you're anything like us, you'll be doing your research on which period pants are best.

We'll let you into a secret....

All Period Pants are generally pretty much the same, no matter what their marketing says

There aren't any 'magic powers' with period pants (or unicorn dust), all pairs of period pants are made in the same way:

- a layer next to your skin which is moisture wicking

- absorbent layer or layers which offer different levels of absorbency / tampons worth of blood

- waterproof, leak proof layers

That means that side by side, there's little to differentiate between different brands of period pants in terms of the actual product.

There's one notable exception.

That's how far the absorbent / waterproof layer extends across the pants. It makes a difference whether that's just in the gusset or it extends further to the front and rear waistband which is important if you have anything more than light flow.

At Cheeky, our period pants have absorbency to front and rear waistband as standard, because customers told us that having absorbency just in the gusset lead to leaks if they had heavy periods or when sleeping.

How do you choose between different brands of period panties?

Well, some things to consider when choosing between different brands of period proof underwear:

  • pricing
  • customer service / reviews
  • absorbency area
  • sizing

Modibodi - Period Pants Review

Modibodi are an Australian company who specialise in period & pee protection pants. They have a great range of styles and products from Modibodi basics to their bikini swimwear for teens and tweens.

Absorbency Area: One point to note is that most of their pants tend to have absorbency in the gusset area only. This should be fine if you have just light flow, however something to bear in mind if you have heavier flow or sleep on your front or back.

Sizing: Smallest sizing is a teen 8 to 10 years. In adults, size ranges from size 4 to size 26 (6XL)

Pricing: Pricing starts from £15 for their basic brief, to £28 for their maxi brief.

Customer Service / Reviews: Modibodi period pants offer a 60 day free trial. They host reviews on their own website but you can view their Trustpilot reviews here.

Pricing: Pricing starts from £12 for their basics range up to £25.99 for their high-waist styles which offer extra protection. They also offer bundles.

Sizing: In adults, size ranges from size 4 to size 26 (6XL)

Sizing: Sizes 4/6 to 28/30 are available.

Pricing: prices range from £15.40 for their bikini brief to £33 for the period sleep shorts.

Nora

Nora Period Pants - Best Period Pants Brands Review - 2023

Nora (formerly Bloom and Nora) are the period related off-shoot of TotsBots, who have been at the forefront of the reusable nappy market for more than 20 years in the UK. It's safe to say, they know their stuff! Nora products are available in on their own website but also at Ocado. We like their range of cute designs which have matching reusable sanitary pads too.

Absorbency Area: These all appear to have a slightly higher gusset than usual. Again however, they may not be suitable for heavier flow or sleeping as absorbency doesn't go to front and rear waistband.

Sizing: Size 8 to 20 are available.

Pricing: prices start at £16.95 for their bikini period pants to £23.95 for their heavy period briefs.

Customer Service / Reviews: Nora don't seem to offer a risk free trial on their period pants. They haven't switched their Trustpilot account yet, so it's still in the name Bloom and Nora, but you can view their reviews here.

Sizing: Size 10/12 to 20/22 are available.

Pricing: prices range from £10 for their midi briefs to £12 for their high waist pants.

Customer Service / Reviews: Sainsburys don't offer a risk free trial. You can view their Trustpilot reviews here.
