Cotton Ultrapad - Luxury Cotton Cloth Sanitary Pads from Cheeky Wipes - for normal flow

Size:        25cm x 7cm (approx) - suitable for most days of your period, or general incontinence.  Please note that this listing is for a SINGLE pad Buy 5 or 10 and SAVE Money!

100% Cotton Ultrapad :

  • Leakproof printed cotton outer layer (laminated),
  • two absorbent cotton/organic cotton layers,
  • inner layer cotton

What's the difference between these and the bamboo minky pads? The ultrapads are made of cotton which is a natural material rather than minky which is manmade. As such it tends to be cooler to wear. They are also thinner, so if you prefer a thinner more discreet pad or if you're buying for a teenager, these are perfect for you. They are also less likely to move around as the cotton fabric will stay in place better. The downside of being thinner is that they are less absorbent, so if your periods are on the heavy side, we'd recommend the bamboo minky instead.

Cheeky Pants Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.

Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.

Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill!

Optional: Add extra pads, some reusable intimate wipes or a mucky box to soak your dirty pads, alternatively take a look at our Cheeky Pants Sanitary Pad kits and SAVE money!

Bamboo / Bamboo Charcoal facing upwards

Insert the pad into your knickers with the bamboo or bamboo charcoal face upwards.  Close the poppers underneath the gusset of your knickers.

Tight Pants

Firstly, I usually try to wear fairly tight fitting pants.  If you usually keep your old, saggy. baggy pants which have really seen better days for that time of the month, time to invest in some new ones!  Tighter pants will help a cloth pad stay in place and avoid slippage.  Cotton knickers are best or cotton / lycra mix.

Turn around if you suffer from slippage

The soft outer Minky fabric has some grip - if it is inserted against the nap of the fabric.  If you notice that your pad is slipping, turn it around 180 degrees, front to back.

  • Rinse them in cold water when you change them and then soak in cold water until you are ready to wash them.
  • Wash at 20c or 30c on a longer cycle, warm washing sets blood stains and can damage your pads.
  • You can give them a squirt of stain spray and/or add a scoop of stain powder to the wash

  • No fabric softener!

  • Line dry, reshape whilst damp.
  • Do not tumble dry

  • No bleach

  • Wash dark colours separately.

  • Vegan friendly
  • Oekotex certified
  • Paraban free
  • SLS free

Good Coverage but Moves About
Saturday, 12 September 2020  |

As the title suggests, these pads have very good coverage, but it unfortunately moves around the lining of your underwear because there is no adhesive which can be irritating if going for a long walk.

Thanks Leigh and a good way to keep them in place is to wear a tighter pant with some lycra in, I find my M&S bikini style with 5% lycra do this really well. That said, I do wear my period pants with the pads and they do stay nice and snug.

This is a comfortable and discreet pad. I bought for incontinence but will use for
light periods too based on experience. I found this did move a bit so wouldn't wear it if I was doing sports, I do have a small baby and a toddler so I'm up and down and running around quite a bit. It didn't move enought to leave me at risk of leaks, I could just feel it had moved.

So comfy
Wednesday, 12 August 2020  |

Surprised at how comfy they are. Occasional movement but tighter fit pants sorted this. I had always turned my nose up at reusables (just a but yuck I thought) but am now a cup and cloth convert. If you are in two minds definitely go for it.

Purchased a few of these as well as some period pants and they've been great. I am able to wear one of these overnight on my lighter days with no leaks. Love the walk on the wild side design, and the grey lining means I can't see any staining or marks after washing. Highly recommend!

Just lovely - and don't be nervous, they do work!

I gave these a try as I was horrified at the thought of all the plastic from disposable pads going into the oceans and landfill. I can reassure you that they're more comfortable and effective than disposable pads, and also easy to care for. Oh, and did I mention they're pretty too

Plastic free sanitary wear
Thursday, 30 July 2020  |

Very good product. Just as absorbent as disposable sanitary towels and more comfortable. I have the box and mesh bag thatís used for the washable baby wipe system so I rinsed each item in cold water and then used the box to soak until washing. They have come out of the wash soft and fresh and unstained. Very good product - a real game changer!

Great pads

Super absorbant, soft and comfortable. Stay in place and so so much better than disposable, I'll never go back. Cooler and more comfortable for summer than bamboo.

Really, really brilliant
Monday, 27 July 2020  |

These reusable pads are so much better than I ever expected. Was concerned about washing but it is so easy - just rinse and throw in the wash. The pads are softer, more comfortable and more absorbent than the disposables AND because there is no adhesive my knickers are in much better shape! I would highly recommend trying these out.
