Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads from Cheeky Wipes - for light flow
Size: 19cm x 7cm (approx.) suitable for light days of your period or mild incontinence
Bamboo / Minky: Leakproof Minkee outer, one layer microfibre, inner layer bamboo charcoal microfleece or bamboo terry
What's the difference between these and the cotton pads? The bamboo minky pads are made of bamboo viscose or charcoal microfleece with a minky outer, being manmade materials, these tend to be a little warmer to wear than the cotton pads. The bamboo minky pads are also slightly thicker and therefore more absorbent than cotton pads, so if your periods are on the heavy side, we'd recommend the bamboo minky rather than the cotton.

Cheeky Mama Cloth Sanitary Pads are an eco-friendly, healthier, more cost effective alternative to disposable pads. For those new to cloth sanitary pads (csp) the concept can be a little “Ew!” but to be honest using cloth as opposed to disposables is more comfortable. Because they are so much more absorbent, moisture is drawn into the pad, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.
Disposables have to contain lots of nasty toxic chemicals, dioxins and gels to enable them to be absorbent, which can lead to sensitive skin, irritation and thrush. Bamboo however, has a natural antibacterial quality and because it allows your skin to breath, can potentially reduce the risk of yeast infections and discomfort.
Of course it goes without saying that cloth pads will cost a fraction of what you would be spending on disposables each month which just end up sitting in landfill!

Bamboo / Bamboo Charcoal facing upwards
Insert the pad into your knickers with the bamboo or bamboo charcoal face upwards. Close the poppers underneath the gusset of your knickers.
Firstly, I usually try to wear fairly tight fitting pants. If you usually keep your old, saggy. baggy pants which have really seen better days for that time of the month, time to invest in some new ones! Tighter pants will help a cloth pad stay in place and avoid slippage. Cotton knickers are best or cotton / lycra mix.
Turn around if you suffer from slippage
The soft outer Minky fabric has some grip - if it is inserted against the nap of the fabric. If you notice that your pad is slipping, turn it around 180 degrees, front to back.
I used the cloth sanitary pads for the first time last month and they were great. I didnít get the normal chaffing from plastic pads. They were easy to clean and have come up look brand new, ready to use again. I highly recommend these products. They do the job perfectly.

So I use Pantyliners every day, it makes me feel comfortable knowing that I'm safe from discharge and spotting between periods. I've had many and a fair few have irritated me, as well as the continuous guilt of wasting so much plastic, so when I came across this, it was a life saviour. They're really comfortable, occasionally slides around but once you get used to how they work/ best position for it, it's easy. They're thicker than normal Pantyliners but for me that's a dream! It's honestly like you're sitting on a soft pillow, but no one can tell. I'll definitely be buying more in the future!!
Wore this for the first time today. Unfortunately had to remove because the pad kept moving (moved all the way up to near my by bum!) Doesn't seem to fit knickers well and I had it on tightest fastening. Don't think I can use this, which is a shame because the period pants fit well and I wanted to continue to do my bit for the environment.
A couple of ways to stop the slipping is to first turn the pad around 180 degrees so what was at the front is now at the back. The minky fabric can be brushed in 2 directions - one more grippy than the other so when you turn it around it should stay put. The other advice is around tighter pants and this has never failed me! I tend to wear my M&S bikini style with 5% lycra and they don't budge. Give the turning trick a go and see if that improves things.
Love this alternative to the plastic liners. So much more comfortable to wear and better for the environment!
I use my newpanty liners every day and they are very comfortable and soft. I like them and think itís a very good alternative for the plastic panty liners. Itís much more sustainable and that was the reason I started to use them.
I use these as every day post-partum panty liners and theyíre very effective, feel dry all the time which is not always the case with disposable ones but they are bulky so if youíre used to super-thin ones then you will notice them albeit actually because they're very soft, I did find myself forgetting about them.
So glad I tried these. The patterns are great, they're lovely and soft and stay in place really well. They only stay put one way I've found, so if you find them sliding around just turn them round.
These liners are really well made and fit very well. They are really soft and comfortable and best of all, they donít cause me to itch. I had a bit of bother with them sliding about the first time I wore it but having read the FAQs page, discovered thereís a right way up so it doesnít slide, so all I had to do was turn it round...sorted!They wash well and keep their shape, and they are eco friendly and will save me money!
After deciding to take the plunge in washable liners I opted for the Liners to trial alongside my Mooncup and for daily use. The liners arrived and are fantastic. Took a little getting use to as one way, the fabric slides, making the liner move, however, by simply turning it around, they stayed still! A wonderful product and helping our planet too! Cannot recommend enough!
I first tried these at home just in case before wearing them to work. My first time out with them, I carried a ton of single use ones as well. Never needed one. Cloth ones are much more comfortable and environmentally friendly that I never consider to go back. However, my periods are quite light, you might like to try it at home first to see how it will work for you.
